Summer Reading List and Music Resources

One of the advantages of summertime is a more relaxed schedule. With that in mind, there should be plenty of time for books. Good stories help create an emotional bond within families and strengthen a child’s imagination. Enjoying a story together establishes an intimacy between parent and child unlike so many other activities. To assist you with book titles for preschoolers, here is a list. Trips to your local library for story hour and other activities are fun during the summer months.

Music Resources:

Worship Music – diamonds in the rough!

 Operation Arctic, an immersive fictional audio musical by Patch the Pirate (Spotify) – Music quality is excellent, but 100% Gospel advancing songs with beautiful and doctrinally pure lyrics.

 Hymns Every Child Should Know, album by Patch the Pirate (Spotify) – Beautifully orchestrated hymns sung by children.

 Getty Kids Hymnal, album by Keith & Kristin Getty

 The Gospel Story Hymnal book by Britta Walbaum & Lindsey Goetz, ages 2 and up. This is a beautiful book for the beginning pianist in the family or anyone else. The illustrations and narration about the gospel is exquisite. Check it out on Amazon.

 A free app worth putting on your phone: Greybobby; it also goes by Adventures of Greybobby (that’s correctly spelled- grey with an e) - a Bedtime Devotional written and read by Zach Carden, pastor. These are biblically based stories and truths with fun-loving characters. They are bedtime stories but can be listened to any time. My grandchildren love them! (Ages 2-10 or a little older).
